The workshop itinerary is subject to change depending on weather conditions, unforeseen circumstances, or other factors outside our control. We will do our utmost to ensure an excellent experience and a fun adventure.
We begin our adventure by arriving in Iceland, where we’ll meet and get to know each other. The first evening will be spent exploring Reykjavík, allowing you to absorb the charm of Iceland’s capital. We’ll wander the city’s colorful streets, photograph its vibrant culture, and perhaps catch a sunset that never quite sets. We’ll spend the night in Reykjavík.
After picking up our rental car, we’ll start our journey by heading into the highlands towards Landmannalaugar. This geothermal paradise, surrounded by colorful rhyolite mountains, will be our playground for the day. We’ll photograph the surreal landscape, capturing the rich textures of the mountains and the vibrant colors of the volcanic rock formations. We’ll spend the night near Landmannalaugar, immersed in the wild beauty of the Icelandic highlands.
The next morning, we drive to the Kerlingarfjöll Mountain Resort, an exquisite, renovated refuge in the heart of Iceland’s remote highlands. Here, we’ll focus on lifestyle photography, capturing the resort’s perfect blend of modern comfort amidst the rugged wilderness. We’ll also take a short hike through the stunning surroundings, photographing the dramatic landscapes of geothermal springs and vast expanses of untouched nature. Afterward, we’ll unwind with a soak in the private hot spring, where we can relax and enjoy panoramic views of the mountains.
In the morning, we’ll explore the Kerlingarfjöll reserve, a moon-like wonderland full of steaming hot springs and colorful rhyolite mountains. We’ll photograph the textures and details of this otherworldly landscape, capturing both sweeping vistas and intimate shots of the geothermal wonders. Then, we’ll leave the highlands behind and head north, joining the Ring Road once again. Our journey will take us to Mývatn, an area known for its volcanic landscapes and quiet, unspoiled beauty. Along the way, we’ll have the option to visit the Hverfjall volcanic crater, which offers striking views of the surrounding region. We’ll spend the night near Mývatn.
On our way from Mývatn, we’ll have the chance to make a detour to visit Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall, known for its massive flow of water and dramatic mist-filled surroundings. From here, we’ll continue to Stuðlagil Canyon, a stunning natural wonder with symmetrical basalt columns and a turquoise river winding through the gorge. After our time at the canyon, we’ll head to Egilsstaðir, where we will spend the night.
The next day begins with a hike to Hengifoss, one of Iceland’s tallest waterfalls. As we photograph the cascading waters and the dramatic red clay and basalt layers, we’ll capture the raw beauty of the eastern landscapes. Afterward, we’ll head towards the southern coast to the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Here, we’ll photograph massive icebergs floating serenely in the crystal-clear waters, surrounded by the striking glacial landscapes. We’ll also visit nearby Diamond Beach, where chunks of ice from the lagoon wash up on the black sand before heading to our hotel for the night.
On the final day of our workshop, we’ll explore the famous South Coast. First, we’ll visit the iconic Reynisfjara black sand beach, and the awe-inspiring Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Keep an eye out for puffins as we explore the rugged coastline. Next, we’ll make our way to Hveragerði to experience the Reykjadalur hot thermal river nestled among picturesque mountains. Here, we’ll take a short hike, photograph beautiful portraits, and relax in the soothing hot waters. Afterward, we’ll drive back to Reykjavík, where we’ll drop off our rental cars and say our goodbyes after an unforgettable adventure.
Departure.
